Writing Narrative

I am learning to write a narrative story.
I'll know I can do this when my stories have:

- Character - Setting - Introduction - Problem - Climax - Conclusion - Descriptive language such as smilies and metaphors - Character speech using speech marks

This is my narrative plan

This is my narrative. I have been writing about a tiger and a lion and they don't like each other.

Something I found hard was thinking about what I should write about in my narrative.
Something I learned was what a Narrative story was and a climax and events were.

Writing Report

I am learning to write an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can plan and write an information reports with a title, topic sentence, and a group of facts about a subject.

Something I found hard was trying to make my burger plan filled with facts. Next time I will try to take my time so i don't make mistakes.

In Taiao I have been learning about chickens. I have learned about the parts of a chicken, some facts about chickens, the parts of an egg (which I used to make an omelette), and what a chicken needs to be happy and healthy.
Something I learned was that barn chickens live in a big barn.

Music

In music with Mr McCullum I have been learning to play the ukulele.

I'll know I've been successful when I hold the ukulele correctly and can strum the cords.
Something I learned was doing the smoke song.

Learner Qualities

I am leaning how to empathise.

I'll know I can do this when I can identify a variety of ways I can show empathy to others.Something I learned was to empathise with my friends when they are felling sad.

Reading Papango

I am learning to apply our prior knowledge to a text.
I'll know I can do this when I can think of ways I have connections to a text and I can use those connections to help decode unfamiliar words and ideas.Something I found hard was putting capital letters where they are sopost to be. Next time I will make sure I put capital letters in the right place.

Maths Tapawha

I am learning to order fractions with different denominators.

I'll know I can do this when I can Explain and show the order of single fractions with different denominators from smallest to largest value.

Something I found hard was doing bigger and smaller fractions. Next time I will try to answer all of the questions.

Art Don Binney

I am learning to create art inspired by Don Binney.

I'll know I can do this when I have created a landscape with a foreground, middle, and background.

My bird and my background are coloured using pastels and natural colours.

Something I found hard was using the right pastels for my bird. Next time I will do my back round different colours.

Creative Writing - Scripts

We are learning to write scripts to create a play.

We know we are successful if our script has:
- multiple characters
- a setting
- character speech
- stage direction (in a different colour to the speech)

Once we have written our scripts we are creating the plays using Puppet Pals.

My play is called "Happily Ever After"

Peace Week 2017

I have been learning about Peace Week.

Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.

With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.

With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Student Led Conference

I think my highlight would of been was showing my tiki art because i was proud of my colours and patterns I choose for my tiki art.

I am most proud of sharing my tiki art because my mum really liked the blue and purple on my tiki art and the patterns I did on my tiki art.
I think my parents would of liked my student led conference because they really liked my tiki and my SML's that I have been doing .

Next time I would like to be more descriptive about the things that I was saying.

Reading

My learning goal this term is order and sequence ideas in a text and understand grammatical features in a text.

I can do this by putting my ideas in the right order.

Procedural Writing

WALT Write a procedure.

Something I learned about writing a procedure is how to use punctuation on my computer.

Something I would like to do better is use different adverbs in different sentences.

How to make delicious jelly pops

What do you need?

jelly crytals
party cups
bolling water(1 cup)
cold water(½ cup)
fruit sticks
measuring cup
whisk
Jug

Instructions

1. Prepare party cups on a flat surface which might be a table/tray.

2. Carefully pour the boiling water into the party cups. NOTE:Ask an adult to help you.

3.tip your jelly crystals into the bolling water.

4.Whisk the boiling water and jelly crystals into they desolve.

5.Add ½ a cup of cold water.

6.Leave your mixture on a table or bench to set.

7.Slowly pour the jelly into the party cups carefully so you don’t spill the jellly.

8.Add fruit sticks into the party cups.

9.slowly walk to the freezer and put the party cups into a flat surface in the freezer to set.

Dance

We did a dance program with all of the year 4's and we learned two very cool dances called hip hop and salsa and our dance teacher is called Dean.

I enjoyed both of the dances but my favorite was the salsa because it was challenging for me.

I learned that different dances have completely different moves to them.
